Webinar on Establishing a Positive Energy District legal aspects and challenges

In this webinar, Dr. Daisy Tempelman from Hanse University of Applied Sciences will discuss the legal framework of the energy transition and its challenges. In addition, (upcoming) legislation such as the revised Dutch Heat Act will be discussed and some legal barriers will be outlined. The discussion will then continue with Anne Venema from the municipality of Groningen highlighting several projects implemented by the municipality of Groningen and their legal aspects. He will also talk about how Groningen is applying the District Approach to city neighborhoods.

Lublin's Journey to Sustainable Transport: Insights from Mayor Krzysztof Żuk   

The tradition of electromobility in Lublin dates back to the middle of the last century with the first trolleybus, an electric bus connected to traction. Lublin is today one of the Polish and European leaders in zero-emission public transport. The largest transporter in Lublin, the Municipal Transport Company of Lublin – MPK Lublin, has been cooperating with Lublin University of Technology for more than 10 years. Currently, 213 buses equipped with photovoltaic panels on the roof are already circulating on the streets of Lublin. The panels provide specific savings, reducing vehicle operating costs, fuel consumption and CO2 emissions into the atmosphere.

Cecilia Sanz Introduces MAKING-CITY: Europe's Urban Energy Transformation 

MAKING-CITY is a European H2020 project on urban energy system transformation towards low-carbon cities, with the Positive Energy District (PED) approach. Cecilia Sanz, MAKING-CITY coordinator from CARTIF, is giving an overview of this huge project which includes 35 partners, 2 lighouses and 6 follower cities involved all accross Europe.

Donatella Bollani from Green Building Council Italia set the stage for an engaging dialogue featuring Giorgio Strappazzon, Architect and Italian Making-City project lead and Cecilia Sanz Montalvillo, Energy division at CARTIF and Making-City project coordinator. The second part of the event was a roundtable were Marco Caffi, Director of the Green Building Council Italia, Andrea Costa, Managing Partner and Head of the Energy Division at R2M Solution, and Maria Teresa Imparato, President of Legambiente discuss how Positive Energy Districts can help urban energy transition.

SPARCS / ASCEND AT THE DATA WEEK IN LEIPZIG, GERMANY

SPARCS and the ASCEND (Accelerate poSitive Clean ENergy Districts) project are joining forces to host a collaborative event during Leipzig Data Week on 18 April 2024. The event, titled “Data-Driven Solutions for PEDs” will take place at the City of Leipzig’s Smart City Lab, located at Magazingasse 3, right in the heart of the city.
